FAQ

Q: Are there going to be spoilers?

A: Yes. Each episode will deal with one chapter, but we’re going to jump around the whole series and assume that everybody has read the books.

Q: Where did you get the theme music?

C.L. Smith composed, performed, and recorded the theme music. He was 15 years old at the time. You can find his score here: HPA20_Theme (CL).

Q: What are some topics you’ll discuss?

A: Anything that comes to mind as we read the chapters.  Such as:

  • Why did Dumbledore leave Harry with an abusive family?
  • Was Draco redeemed?  Was Dudley?  Was Snape?
  • What makes magic Dark?
  • How does Occlumency work?
  • What was the Elder Wand plotline about?
  • What are Horcruxes?
  • How much did the author preplan the series?
  • And all things Snape, of course.

Q: What is TERFpocalypse?

A: That’s Lorrie’s term for the shift that happened in Harry Potter fandom when author J.K. Rowling began her public campaign against equal rights for trans people.  We won’t link to it here, but if necessary, you can search for her website and find what she posted on gender in 2020.

Q: Will the podcast talk about Rowling’s 2020 gender manifesto?

A: Yes, a separate episode or more, as necessary.

Q: Where can I find refutations to Rowling’s stance?

A: YouTuber Jammidodger’s response video from June 2020 is a good place to start.  Rowling’s stance runs counter to the findings and recommendations of the American Medical Association.

Q: Will you discuss Cursed Child and the Fantastic Beasts films?

A: Yes. Lorrie loves both, and considers Cursed Child to be the 8th Harry Potter story. But no, Voldemort and Bellatrix never had a child together; Delphi is a shadow, in the Jungian sense.
